- ➤ Kendall Kunelius from UNH Cooperative Extension explained which trees yield the best BTU ratings for firewood as winter nears. He noted that paper birch and maple serve well in shoulder seasons while oak, ash, black birch and hickory provide hotter, longer burns. WMUR

- ➤ Hollis-Brookline Girls’ Basketball beat Manchester Memorial (57-38) in the Doug Chandler Tournament at Manchester West High School on Dec. 27. WMUR
- ➤ Goffstown boys' basketball team won their opening game (64-58) at the Queen City Invitational against Manchester Central on Saturday, Dec. 27. Giovanni Santos led his team with a standout performance before they headed home for the holidays. WMUR
- ➤ Fall Mountain Girls' Hoops (FMGH) won their opening holiday game against Lebanon with a final score of 48 to 25, bolstered by strong passing and long-range shots from Sophia Grillone. The team set a positive tone for the season. WMUR
