- ➤ Bluebird Self Storage is hosting its 'Give Hunger the Bird' food drive at all nine locations until Dec. 31. Donations of nonperishable food and items will support Gather in Portsmouth and Families in Transition in Manchester (target is 2,000 lbs compared to 1,600 lbs collected last year). WMUR
- ➤ Kendra Soucie-Smith, a mother and nonprofit founder, overcame a difficult past + now runs Feed the Kids to provide meals for Nashua students and families. She shares her journey to teach important lessons while reaching local neighborhoods in need. Nashua Ink Link
- ➤ Executive Director Alyssa O'Mara gave an update Tuesday night ahead of the Board of Aldermen meeting about changes to the Holiday Stroll, including a shorter route using side streets & a new tree lighting location by the Riverfront, along with added attractions and a resolved Brick House Grill vendor issue. - ➤ The Anheuser-Busch plant on Daniel Webster Highway in Merrimack will close in the coming months as the company updates its U.S. operations; it has run for 55 years and affected workers may be offered transfers or severance packages. Nashua Ink Link
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Eight local students received $30,000 in scholarships from the New Hampshire Automobile Dealers Association to promote auto industry careers, and the awards were handed out Wednesday night at the NHADA Scholarship - Industry Night which also recognized outstanding teaching. WMUR
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ New Hampshire weather extremes reduced Christmas tree planting by 50% this season, said Jim Colby of Colby Tree Farm in Boscawen. Growers are testing Korean fir and exploring hybrids to cope with wet springs and dry falls + boost sustainability. WMUR
