  • This weekend, local holiday cheer takes center stage as Nashua South DECA hosts Jigsaws & Jammies for puzzle fun and community fundraising on Friday, Dec. 12 at Nashua South Cafeteria and People's Pub Night brings neighbors together at the Peddler’s Daughter on Saturday, Dec. 13.  Nashua Ink Link
  • Target at Pheasant Lane Mall is partnering with Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua to help families in need this holiday season. Target team members will shop, purchase, wrap and deliver gifts as part of the annual Great Gift-Together program.  WMUR

CULTURE NEWS

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Two New Hampshire students, Aadi Klukarni of Nashua High School South and Shelby McDonald of Plymouth Regional High, were selected by the Department of Education to join the U.S. Senate Youth Program. They will study government in Washington, D.C. this March and get a $10,000 college scholarship each.  Nashua Ink Link
  • More than 500 New Hampshire students gathered at Bedford High School on Dec. 6 for the FIRST LEGO League State Championship, where top teams in grades 4–8 showcased robotics + research, and advancing teams will compete in the world festival in Houston from April 29 – May 2 for recognition.  Nashua Ink Link
  • Eleven individuals graduated on Wednesday from the Empowered Futures Program at Granite YMCA in Manchester after completing a 10-week training course for child care careers. Their apprenticeship aims to ease a local shortage that has cost businesses $56 million a year, with most graduates already securing positions.  WMUR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Rep. Tony Caplan introduced a bill that would bar the Environmental Services from issuing groundwater permits for plastic bottled water to protect groundwater and reduce waste. The House Resources, Recreation, and Development Committee will review the proposal in the new year — aiming to conserve groundwater amid erratic weather.  New Hampshire Bulletin
