COMMUNITY NEWS

  • David Ivanoff said he attends Harbor Care Health & Wellness Center’s annual Thanksgiving Community Dinner nearly every year — he values the event for filling plates and lifting spirits. Organizers will host the dinner to continue the long-standing tradition that brings local residents together.  New Hampshire Union Leader
  • The Board of Aldermen passed ordinance O-25-079, which will go into effect in less than a week and require Pine Street Extension encampment residents to leave by December 15. Miss Lee, who has lived in the encampment for nearly seven months, said the order is cruel — it violates basic human rights and leaves her with no safe shelter option.  Nashua Ink Link

CULTURE NEWS

  • Kyle McDonough, a Manchester Memorial High School teacher and golf coach (and the inspiration behind the Happy Gilmore character) made his movie debut in Happy Gilmore 2 after filming a scene on a golf course with Adam Sandler. He has said that his long drive on the golf course helped build a lifelong friendship with Sandler that began in first grade.  WMUR

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Tuesday morning, a small 1.8-magnitude earthquake shook southern New Hampshire at 10:13 a.m.—its epicenter was three kilometers southwest of Kingston and no damage or injuries were reported.  WMUR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Tuesday, New Hampshire fire officials, Dover Fire and the American Red Cross held a live kitchen fire safety demonstration ahead of Thanksgiving. The exercise showed how quickly cooking oil fires can spread—reminding Granite Staters that water should never be used to put out oil fires.  WMUR

HEALTH NEWS

  • On Tuesday, Jen Clayman of Rindge donated a $6,000 check from Emberly’s Embrace to Dartmouth Health’s Cheshire Medical Center to fund car seats for families and bereavement training for nurses — a gift inspired by the stillbirth of her daughter Emberly Rose in 2023. Clayman, who later gave birth to her son at Cheshire Medical Center, also hosted a charity concert over the summer to honor the staff’s care.  WMUR
