COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Eversource volunteers joined Holiday Cards for our Military Challenge to send handwritten notes to deployed service members. The nonprofit aims to send 250,000 cards this season and already sorted over 20,000 cards in 2024 as it nears its 2 millionth card milestone—bringing comfort to our troops.  WMUR
  • In 1973, Nashua Lumber at 25 Marshall Street faced a heavy blaze that began with alarms at 6:14 a.m. and 6:21 a.m.—drawing off-duty firefighters and mutual aid to contain a fire that damaged the office and nearby buildings, while in 1976, crews fought a severe blaze at St. Louis De Gonzague Church on West Hollis St. that resulted in injuries and the loss of a nearby apartment building.  Nashua Ink Link

  • U.S. Senator Cory Booker headlined the NHDP Eleanor Roosevelt Dinner in Nashua, where party leaders honored late Alderwoman Gloria Timmons and defended Senate deals to restore key government programs.   • Senator Shaheen hosted a roundtable at the Center for Life Management in Derry last week — meeting with healthcare professionals and advocates to discuss extending ACA premium tax credits and address looming Medicaid funding cuts.   • A New Hampshire cardiologist is promoting women's heart health by urging more screenings and education as heart disease remains the top killer for women in the state.   • The median price of a single-family home in New Hampshire increased 4.5% since last October, reaching nearly $528,000 according to the state Realtors. Monthly data shows higher sales and a 14% rise in supply of single-family homes and a 15% jump in condos—factors that add to buyers’ affordability challenges.  WMUR
