COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Mobile food pantries run by the New Hampshire Food Bank are serving SNAP recipients amid the government shutdown—offering fresh fruit and shelf-stable foods after a brief check process. A pantry in Nashua fed about 520 families this morning, and more pantries are scheduled in Gorham today at 12:00 p.m., in Keene on Nov. 18, Northumberland on Nov. 25, Manchester on Dec. 12, and Ossipee on Dec. 16.  WMUR
  • The Nashua Chamber named Earl S. Prolman Citizen of the Year today, honoring the former prep school athlete who later served in the Army after World War II—an honor that reflects his lifelong contributions to our community.  New Hampshire Union Leader
  • Local events span from Thursday through Saturday with a labubu styling workshop and wine tasting celebration on Nov 13 — a people’s potluck, pickle party and karaoke show happening today, plus holiday activities like Main Street Unwrapped and craft fairs on Nov 15. EDUCATION NEWS

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sen. Maggie Hassan pushed for a bipartisan deal to extend ACA tax credits and prevent a spike in health insurance costs next year—her proposal comes as she hears concerns from federal workers and hospital staff following Thursday’s government shutdown reopening efforts.  WMUR
  • The New Hampshire Department of Transportation has launched its Name a Plow contest and is accepting entries until December 12, with multiple submissions allowed. Finalists will be chosen for a public vote and winners will be announced in mid-January+ the contest spotlights the work of winter maintenance teams in keeping roads safe.  Nashua Ink Link

  • Viewers ranked the best pies in New Hampshire—Slightly Crooked Pies in Bedford took first place. Other favorites include Wicked Sweet Cakes and Treats in Bradford, The Boro Baking Co. in Moultonborough, Sugar Love Baking in Salem and Indian Corn Mill in Haverhill.  WMUR

SPORTS NEWS

  • Franklin Pierce men's soccer beat SNHU 3-2 on November 13th in Manchester. The team will face Bentley in the Northeast 10 championship on Saturday—a game that will decide the conference final.  WMUR
  • Matt Bonner, a two-time NBA champion and 1999 Concord High School graduate, will be inducted into the NH Interscholastic Athletic Association Hall of Fame on Sunday at the Grappone Center in Manchester—alongside Harold Sachs, Mike Lee, Rick Ross, Les Poore, and Jeffrey Cousineau—recognizing their impact on high school sports.  WMUR
  • Monadnock's senior Nick Ball is in the home stretch of his football season and inspires his team with leadership seen both on the field and through his longstanding lemonade stand that helped local kids.
