GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Since the federal government shutdown, many workers in New Hampshire missed paychecks and SNAP benefits ended on Nov 1 for nearly 76,000 residents, impacting local families and businesses. Lawmakers may work to build stronger fiscal plans to keep vital programs running when federal funds are unstable.  New Hampshire Bulletin
  • On Friday, state officials said SNAP users got their full November benefits even as a Supreme Court order blocked full funding payments, and the Health Department processed funds so EBT cards had money this weekend—Gov. Ayotte said more work will continue to help vulnerable residents during the shutdown.  WMUR

  • In the opening round of the Division I high school football playoffs, Winnacunnet defeated Exeter, Nashua South beat Londonderry and Salem edged out Portsmouth-Oyster River — Trinity beat Hanover in the only Division II game on Friday.  WMUR
  • Bishop Guertin won a double overtime soccer championship against Nashua South with a 1—0 score as Nick Catalano scored the sudden death goal. The game ended after a scoreless second half and two overtime periods—a thrilling finish for the team in Manchester.  WMUR
