COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A long line formed Friday in Nashua as hundreds of Granite Staters waited at the mobile food pantry in the parking lot of BAE on Lock Street to pick up food boxes. Volunteers said the service reached about 500 families in the first hour and continued until roughly 2 to 2:30 p.m. to help anyone in need.  WMUR
  • The Salvation Army will host its annual senior Thanksgiving luncheon on Thursday, November 20 at 11:30 a.m. + the event will provide a meal for local seniors.  New Hampshire Union Leader
  • Residents are invited to vote for the best pie maker in New Hampshire as part of the Viewers’ Choice feature for Thanksgiving — the contest restricts entries to local diners, country stores, or farms; voting will end Thursday at 9 a.m. and only one vote per person is allowed.  WMUR
  • Downtown Nashua will celebrate the holiday season with three events organized by Great American Downtown—Main Street Unwrapped on November 15 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. will unveil festive window displays; Plaid Friday on November 28 at Fortin Gage will give the first 100 visitors a complimentary tote bag and seasonal offers; and the 30th Annual Nashua Winter Stroll on November 29 from 5 to 9 p.m. will feature a candlelit procession, free ice skating and snow tubing, and the lighting of a 25-foot Christmas tree at Riverfront Pavilion. BUSINESS NEWS

  • Five local high school graduates who grew up skiing at Ragged Mountain bought the resort—fulfilling a shared hometown dream—and now own the ski area where they learned to ski.  New Hampshire Union Leader
  • Retailers including Kohl's, Target and JCPenney launched early Black Friday deals that offer up to 50% off on items like kitchen appliances, toys and activewear. Their sales will run until November 9—while Walmart will open its early access on November 14—giving Nashua shoppers an early start on holiday savings.  WMUR

  • Lorraine Arlan said her love for jazz started with a friend at Boston clubs—she coined the term Jazz Laugh to describe the playful reaction she first heard during a live show. She has tickets for Sunday’s Swingin’ to Victory show featuring the New Hampshire Jazz Orchestra and Taylor O’Donnell—promising a live display of the music’s vibrant energy.  Nashua Ink Link

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The FAA ordered airlines to reduce flights due to staffing shortages made worse by the shutdown, which led to nearly 1,000 cancellations nationwide last Friday and disruptions at major hubs like Logan. In Manchester, a Breeze Airways flight from Orlando and two additional flights scheduled for today were canceled — leaving travelers to adjust their plans before the holiday rush.  WMUR
  • New Hampshire health officials announced Friday that SNAP recipients will get full benefits for November on their EBT cards this weekend — Gov. Kelly Ayotte said officials will keep helping vulnerable citizens until the federal government reopens. The announcement follows a court order that required full funding of SNAP benefits during the shutdown.  WMUR
