- ➤ Humane Society for Greater Nashua held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new 10,000-square-foot Humane Care Center building on Ferry Road to expand its affordable veterinary clinic, behavioral training space, and kennels — measures that will help reduce disease spread among shelter animals. - ➤ Harbor Care will host its 22nd Annual free Thanksgiving Community Dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on November 25 at the Harbor Care Health & Wellness Center in downtown Nashua — over 300 community members, including those facing homelessness and low incomes, will gather for a donated meal featuring roasted turkey, stuffing, and seasonal sides. - ➤ Eleven dancers from the Broadway Bound Performing Arts Center in Merrimack will perform in the 99th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City on Thanksgiving morning — they will dance to a Lady Gaga mix with Spirit of American Productions among 600 dancers chosen nationwide. WMUR
- ➤ Dancing With The Stars will mark its 20th anniversary next Tuesday — the show will air at 8 p.m. on WMUR-TV and feature original host Tom Bergeron, who helped launch the show in 2005 and will return as a guest judge — promising a revival of classic moments. WMUR
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Drought conditions remain unchanged in New Hampshire despite recent rain showers, with severe drought in parts of Grafton, Carroll and Coos counties and moderate drought affecting Hillsborough and Cheshire. Rainfall in Concord has been below average this November and more rain will be needed to ease the drought. WMUR
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A bill is being drafted to offer a tax credit for local media ads—an effort to support local newspapers that will be reviewed by the Legislature next year—Rep. Kristine Perez said in an interview. The measure comes after many local newspapers closed because of low ad revenue. Nashua Ink Link
- ➤ Nashua will hold its annual Veterans Day Parade on Tuesday, Nov. 11, starting at 11:11 a.m. at Holman Stadium — the parade will move down Main Street to end at the Adult Learning Center if the weather holds and City Hall will be closed for the holiday. Nashua Ink Link
- ➤ Residents met on Oct 27 at Arlington Street Community Center to discuss housing, environment, health, transportation and children's needs as part of the mayor's Building Community Ward by Ward Series — the first of three gatherings — with follow-up sessions scheduled today at Nashua High School North and on December 5 at ASCC.
