- ➤ Roger Huard was born in Manchester on October 11 and is one of 11 children; he left high school early to join the Marine reserves and served from March 1969 to March 1975. He trained at Camp Lejeune—where contaminated water later led to a brain tumor, hearing loss, and 80% disability—and now lives in Manchester. Nashua Ink Link

- ➤ Several Granite Staters reported seeing a streaky spiral in the sky Tuesday night in Jaffrey, Pittsfield, Laconia, Salem and Concord—WMUR meteorologist Mike Haddad said it was caused by the Ariane 6 rocket launch from Europe’s Spaceport in Kourou—French Guiana carrying Sentinel-1D to capture high-resolution images of Earth. - ➤ After lawmakers approved ending mandatory vehicle emissions testing with an early 2026 sunset, New Hampshire is filing plans with the EPA to amend its Clean Air Act plan and leave its regional pollution pact—state data shows no drop in air quality, but some experts say long-term impacts could worsen and federal highway funds might be at risk. - ➤ Boston Logan International Airport is one of 40 airports that will see a 10% cut in flights due to FAA staffing shortages—linked to the ongoing government shutdown, according to an exclusive ABC News list. Manchester-Boston Regional Airport is not affected. WMUR
- ➤ New Hampshire’s Department of Energy said LIHEAP funds will cover home heating assistance through December even as the longest federal government shutdown delays new aid—about 20.9 percent of eligible households, roughly 28,400 last fiscal year, received benefits averaging $1,284 while families in other states may face delays.
