COMMUNITY NEWS

  • In Concord last week, community leaders celebrated the Spirit of New Hampshire Awards as WMUR’s Erin Fehlau and Sean McDonald emceed the event—honoring local volunteers. Volunteers from Catholic Medical Center delivered fall-themed knit hats to newborns—demonstrating care for their community’s youngest residents.  WMUR
  • Local groups in New Hampshire are launching mobile food pantries for SNAP recipients as federal funding takes weeks to release; 85 organizations formed SNAPback Seacoast & are holding their first drive today at election polling places to collect baby food, formula, cleaning and hygiene supplies. CAP officials say that many families, including those new to seeking help, are facing hardships amid delayed government benefits.  WMUR
  • Grace Bruckshaw is organizing the Throw For Heroes disc golf tournament on Saturday, November 8 to raise money for the Homeland Heroes Foundation—50 teams will take part to support veterans. The event will offer a chance for young athletes and their families to come together while honoring those who served.  WMUR

CULTURE NEWS

  • The award-winning women's a cappella chorus (New England Voices in Harmony) will host a free four-week Discover Harmony program (Nov. 18-Dec. 9) that offers holiday music sessions for local guests.  New Hampshire Union Leader
  • Today, the New Hampshire Historical Society launches its new exhibition titled 'If You Had to Choose: Patriots and Loyalists in Revolutionary New Hampshire' that shows accounts of patriot and loyalist experiences during the American Revolution—local visitors can learn about key events and figures in our state’s early history.  New Hampshire Union Leader

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Girls on the Run New Hampshire helps girls build confidence and a positive self-image by offering a twice-weekly after school program for ages 8—14 that focuses on running, walking, and team building. Executive Director Jen Hubbell and Program Manager Jess Therriault say the club celebrates milestones such as finishing a 5K — a goal that teaches resilience and self-worth.  WMUR

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • New Hampshire lawmakers will debate new landfill rules as both Senate and House proposals plan to tighten permit criteria and boost public input — aiming to protect water, soil, and local interests. The Senate version will favor expanding existing sites while the House plan will limit out-of-state waste — and both proposals call for a moratorium on new landfills and a $20,000 fee for major facility applications.  New Hampshire Bulletin

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Mobile food pantries will be available Wednesday for SNAP recipients—state health officials and the governor’s office are partnering with the New Hampshire Food Bank to provide food box pickup sites and mobile pantry services at various locations; families must show their EBT cards or a DHHS notice to verify eligibility.  WMUR

  • After the regular season ended, Nashua high school football and boys soccer teams entered the playoffs—Nashua North football, seeded 12th after a 25-8 win over Dracut, will face fifth-ranked Bishop Guertin on Saturday at 3 p.m., Nashua South football, seeded 4th with a 25-21 win over Pinkerton, will host Londonderry on Friday at 6:30 p.m., and Nashua High South boys soccer beat Exeter 2-1 in overtime to reach the semis against Windham on Wednesday at 6:15 p.m.—as teams look to advance further.  Nashua Ink Link
