COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Fire Captain Charles H. Tafe retired on January 1 after 48 years with the Nashua Fire Department—he began as a call firefighter in 1898 and later led every fire station in the city. His family continued his service as his sons also worked in local fire and police roles.  Nashua Ink Link

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Tighe and Bond acquired Geosphere Environmental Management, Inc., a New Hampshire firm that works on hydrogeology and fixes environmental issues. The acquisition+ which will add to their engineering and planning work is expected to boost their service in the area.  New Hampshire Union Leader

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Nashua Arts Commission opened a grant cycle for local 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts groups that enrich the community. Grants will range from $500 to $5,000 with possible adjustments—applications must be submitted by December 31 at 5 p.m.  Nashua Ink Link

HEALTH NEWS

  • Tess Kuenning, CEO of the Bi-State Primary Care Association, said new Medicaid requirements from the recent state and federal budgets will lead to about 20,000 patients losing coverage and may prompt further closures of community health centers after those in Franconia and Canaan have already closed.  WMUR

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Sunday, the Patriots held a tight 24-23 win over the Falcons after Parker Romo missed an extra point—Drake Maye threw two touchdown passes while also turning over the ball and Terrell Jennings scored his first career rushing touchdown to help secure New England's sixth straight victory.  WMUR
  • Londonderry High beat Windham 14—6 while Monadnock secured a 46—12 win over Campbell in yesterday’s regular season football games.  WMUR
  • Souhegan defeated Bow 2—1 in a Division II field hockey match on November 2nd as Oriana Dart tied the score with a penalty shot and her sister Mariella Dart scored the game-winning goal.  WMUR
