COMMUNITY NEWS

  • NH Gleans is expanding its effort to rescue extra farm crops and deliver fresh food to families in need across New Hampshire—supported by a $105,000 investment from Hannaford Supermarkets that will boost outreach with local farms. The program rescued nearly 267,000 pounds of produce in 2024 and will grow its network to serve more community members.  Nashua Ink Link
  • Gloria Timmons, a longtime Nashua resident who served as an alderwoman and on the Board of Education, began a 22-year military career when she joined the U.S. Army as a young woman—she is remembered by community members for her good character and dedicated service.  New Hampshire Union Leader

CULTURE NEWS

  • Veterans of the New Hampshire Veterans Home will host an art show on November 7 from 10 a.m. to noon & from 1 to 3 p.m. at 139 Winter St., where the veterans display their artwork.  New Hampshire Union Leader

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Drought conditions improved in New Hampshire after recent rainfall, with areas in Grafton, Carroll and Coos counties shifting from extreme to severe drought and the extreme drought area reducing from over 53 percent to just over 37 percent. Rainfall on Thursday likely helped further improve the conditions.  WMUR

  • The New Hampshire Liquor Commission is planning a new I-95 rest area in Hampton and is seeking a partner to develop 88 acres into liquor stores & service areas that will offer twice the selection of existing options.  WMUR
  • As the government shutdown continues, New Hampshire community action partnerships brace for a surge in requests for food, job, and housing help while also keeping early education programs running. A Dover father shared that his first visit to the partnership highlighted the growing need for support — officials expect more families to seek assistance soon.  WMUR
