- ➤ Meteorologist Hayley Lapointe reported that peak fall colors remain visible in central and southern New Hampshire with red, orange, and yellow leaves along lake shores and in the Merrimack Valley, while areas north of the Lakes Region are past peak. Weekend temperatures in the 40s and 50s mean local leaf-peepers should enjoy the view (updated at 2:24 p.m. EDT Oct 24) before rain next week may end the season. WMUR
- ➤ Jack Dalton, known as The Kid Conservationist, is a New Hampshire teen who uses YouTube to share his mission of saving animals and the Earth (he began his work at age 11). Now 15, he travels to see wild orangutans in Borneo and Sumatra and published a book that funds tree planting and conservation education (his efforts have earned global awards). WMUR
- ➤ Meteorologist Jacqueline Thomas said that scattered showers and cooler air were noted this afternoon with drier skies and lows in the 30s expected tonight. The forecast calls for a chilly weekend with highs in the 40s up north and low 50s in the south, and a storm system will bring heavy rain later next week before Halloween. WMUR

- ➤ Today is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Police departments will collect expired or unwanted medications from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.—accepted drugs will be sent to the DEA for safe destruction while items such as needles, sharps, syringes, liquids, inhalers, aerosols, or marijuana will not be accepted. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Darts players practiced on a Wednesday league night at the Dover Moose Lodge as they prepared for the Seacoast Open tournament—a Silver Event for the World Darts Federation with more than $27,000 in prize money and a chance to clinch an invitation to next year's World Masters. Tournament events will run from Nov. 14-16 at the Manchester Doubletree and include singles and doubles matches. WMUR
- ➤ On Friday night, Bedford remained undefeated after beating Londonderry 30—10 while Manchester Memorial gave Pinkerton its first loss at 28—25, and Salem won 37—35 with a last-second field goal. The games highlighted a strong push toward playoff contention among the top teams. WMUR
