- ➤ Volunteers at Meals on Wheels of Hillsborough County packed meals in the early morning and delivered them to homebound residents to provide essential wellness checks. They helped serve around 8000 meals each month—supporting crucial care for those who may be isolated. WMUR
- ➤ Greater Nashua NAACP will host its annual Freedom Fund Dinner at Nashua Country Club on October 17th at 5:30 p.m.—Congresswoman Maggie Goodlander will deliver the keynote address for a non-partisan, multi-racial event that gathers community, business and political leaders. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Great American Downtown held its first Coloring Main Street event on October 11, where local and student artists drew chalk designs on downtown sidewalks and merchants provided buckets of colored chalk. - ➤ The average cost of a gallon of regular gas in New Hampshire has dropped more than two cents over the past week, according to GasBuddy—prices now average $2.95, which is over 12 cents lower than a month ago. WMUR
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Parker Kelley finished his Eagle Scout project — building 22 duck boxes with 17 volunteers over 120 hours — for the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department a couple weeks ago. The boxes will be placed in winter on marshes to protect duck nests. WMUR

- ➤ New Hampshire ski resorts are rethinking their snowmaking as drought and warming winters threaten early snow production; crews will use new methods — making snow in stages to save water and adapt to changing temperatures. - ➤ Nashua native Major General Roland Lajoie led U.S. Army intelligence during the Cold War and handled a tense event in West Berlin in 1985 when a Soviet sentry shot an officer.
