COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A new veterans campus is open on 15 acres and includes five buildings that offer various services for local veterans. Sean Downie, a retired Navy veteran from Northwood, learned about the project a year ago+the campus now provides essential programs to support local veterans.  New Hampshire Union Leader

CULTURE NEWS

  • On May 9, 1941, a new tar kettle from the Board of Public Works caught fire when naphtha in the tar ignited—forcing the truck driver to keep moving until firefighters used a fog nozzle to put out the blaze and later cleaned sticky tar from their trucks. The account also explains how Nashua officials organized an auxiliary fire crew in December and installed air raid sirens in June to boost city defenses as World War II approached.  Nashua Ink Link

ECONOMY NEWS

  • On today's NH's Business, Primary Bank CEO Crystal Dionne spoke with Fred Kocher about how New Hampshire's economic uncertainty — marked by stalled job growth and falling exports — may lead banks to adjust lending to small businesses.   • Thomas Jimino was paralyzed after falling off his roof eight years ago and now drives his accessible van across the country—visiting rehabilitation centers to show others that life can be rebuilt.
