BUSINESS NEWS

  • Mi Familia at Parkside Convenience in Manchester now serves authentic Puerto Rican food and has quickly drawn local fans as Ronald and Tyra Torres share family recipes—while Rosa and Alex Martinez at Empanada Deluxe 603 make over 1,000 empanadas weekly to meet Granite Staters' demand for genuine Hispanic flavors.  WMUR

CULTURE NEWS

  • Milford is hosting its annual pumpkin festival this weekend — featuring a haunted trail, scarecrow making, carving demos and a pumpkin catapult, with activities planned through Sunday.  WMUR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At a special meeting held Thursday night, Nashua officials proposed adding more public bathrooms to help downtown businesses cope with a growing homeless population. City representatives discussed options—permanent restrooms, mobile units and port-a-potties—with input from the Economic Development Office, police and health officials, but no decisions have been made yet.  WMUR
  • Chris Ellms, Jr., deputy commissioner of the state Department of Energy explained that heating oil is about 3.50 a gallon, propane is about 3.76 a gallon, and kerosene is around 4.36 a gallon—prices expected to remain stable compared to last winter. He advised residents to contact a local community action agency to check for fuel assistance through programs like LIHEAP that support 29,000 Granite Staters.  WMUR

HEALTH NEWS

  • Retired police captain and Army ranger Jeff Ladieu completed his 220-mile run from Pittsburg to Nashua on Friday to raise awareness for mental health resources for veterans and first responders. He ran over 10 days and raised money while Gov. Kelly Ayotte joined him for the final two miles—showing support for those who serve.  WMUR
