COMMUNITY NEWS

  • ArtHub and the Nashua Area Artists Association are hosting free ornament-painting workshops on October 10, 17, and 24 from 4–7 p.m. to let participants paint two ornaments—one to keep and one to sell with all proceeds benefitting Tails to Freedom in memory of Baby Grace.  Nashua Ink Link

CULTURE NEWS

  • On Wednesday, New Hampshire artists gathered at the State House in Concord for the 45th Governor's Arts Awards. Gov. Kelly Ayotte said the event honored eight winners—marking the 45th anniversary and reflecting spring nominations.  WMUR
  • This Hispanic Heritage Month, brothers behind three popular Mexican restaurants and the Cali arepas food truck serve authentic fare to add a rich taste of culture—bringing a vibrant mix of flavors to Nashua. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Low water levels are reported statewide as a severe drought continues—one gauge on the Ammonoosuc River shows its lowest reading in nearly 80 years. State officials warn boat owners to remove their boats now due to a fire risk and a statewide burn ban.  WMUR
  • NH Audubon built a new All Persons Trail at the Massabesic Center in Auburn, a 0.4-mile gravel path that crosses grasslands, wetlands and gardens—providing easier outdoor access for wheelchairs and strollers. Director Kimmie Whiteman said the nonprofit will examine other sites for similar upgrades—expanding nature access for everyone.  WMUR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • New Hampshire Supreme Court Justice Anna Barbara Hantz Marconi pleaded no contest on Tuesday to a misdemeanor charge of criminal solicitation for trying to influence a criminal investigation against her husband, the Port Authority director, and she is asking for her law license to be reinstated. She must pay a $1,200 fine and cannot return to the bench until her request is approved — the decision is still pending.  WMUR
  • The ACLU of New Hampshire filed a lawsuit against the state for its decades-old loitering law, arguing it is unconstitutional and unfairly targets homeless people. The suit claims that vague language gives police too much power to detain individuals on a hunch—raising concerns about arbitrary enforcement similar to challenges seen in other states.  New Hampshire Bulletin

HEALTH NEWS

  • Dartmouth Cancer Center has begun offering cold cap therapy for chemotherapy patients at its Nashua clinic—expanding a service that was previously limited to another location. The treatment aims to reduce hair loss during chemotherapy.  New Hampshire Union Leader
