- ➤ Team Phoenix 2342 from Nashua earned the Governor’s Cup Award at FIRST NH on October 4 at Plymouth State University’s All Well Center—seven seniors received tuition scholarships and Justin Harding earned an extra $2000 for his leadership in the team’s STEM outreach efforts. Nashua Ink Link
- ➤ The Greater Nashua Smart Start Coalition is launching a free online learning series for parents and expecting parents today. - ➤ The Newfound Lake Region Association confirmed a photo of a spiny water flea in Newfound Lake and warned that its spread could upset the lake’s food chain by reducing native zooplankton. - ➤ At the first NPL candidate forum, Ward 1 alderman candidate Stephen Chess said he will not throw money at every issue — he favors concrete solutions for Nashua’s challenges. - ➤ A New Hampshire Supreme Court justice, Anna Barbara Hantz Marconi, is entering a no contest plea today for criminal solicitation connected to allegations that she tried to influence a case against her husband. The plea, which carries a maximum fine of $1,200, replaces her trial set for November as her husband, Port Authority Director Geno Marconi, has pleaded not guilty to charges involving misuse of confidential records—an ongoing investigation. - ➤ The New Hampshire Attorney General's Office said on Monday that state officials did not alert other agencies before finalizing the sale of a Nashua warehouse at 80 Northwest Boulevard to Nongfu Spring— a transaction valued at $67 million, which is far above the estimated $15 million. Gov. Kelly Ayotte then signed orders to block foreign acquisitions, and the AG's office is working with federal partners to monitor any potential security risks. WMUR
- ➤ On May 8th, 1939, William E. Whitney became Fire Chief of the Nashua Fire Department—marking the first time a father and son have led the department—as he followed in the footsteps of his late father, Charles H. Whitney, who served from 1903 until his death in 1913. Nashua Ink Link
