  • On Thursday, Wendy's donated nearly $75,000 from coupon book sales to the New Hampshire Foster and Adoptive Parent Association to help families with necessities, camp, sports and kids classes. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Amid the government shutdown, March data shows New Hampshire has 410 federal employees per 100,000 residents. Maine tops the region with 1,008 workers while Connecticut has 232—figures that reveal staffing differences in New England.  WMUR
  • Lawyers for 1,500 victims alleged on Thursday that Attorney General John Formella bullied claimants and vetoed settlement agreements previously approved for the Youth Development Center fund. They said the changes force victims to restart their claims while state officials now plan to appoint a political administrator — a move that could defunct the fund.  WMUR

Critics warn that the amendments may weaken the office’s independence by allowing more governor oversight — putting ratepayer advocacy at risk.  New Hampshire Bulletin
  • A government shutdown in New Hampshire is keeping only essential programs running so Social Security checks, Medicare, Medicaid and Veterans Affairs services continue while home heating assistance, passport processing, TSA and Amtrak services remain available—federal workers face furloughs and food programs like WIC may run only one week without extra funding.  WMUR
