  • Downtown Nashua store owners urged city officials to address homelessness that has impacted their business operations — they cited issues like harassment and public urination.   • Artist Rebecca M. Fullerton, who works for the Appalachian Mountain Club, hiked to Square Ledge in Pinkham Notch in July to paint a view of Mount Washington using oil on canvas. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Meteorologist Hayley LaPoint said early fall colors are emerging in the North Country as cooler nights and shorter daylight spur change—conditions that start the leaf shift. Peak colors are expected in about two weeks—spreading south as some trees show mild drought stress.  WMUR
  • Officials said dry conditions and gusty winds are keeping fire risk high in New Hampshire, and experts noted that over 20% of the state is in extreme drought. They warned that equipment such as lawn mowers and brush saws can spark deep fires—making them hard to control.  WMUR

  • Gov. Kelly Ayotte said she will keep her open government approach after a 22-year-old Hooksett man was arrested for allegedly threatening to kill her with what he called weapons of mass destruction—she expressed strong trust in state law enforcement's investigation.
