COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Manchester firefighters and police joined the annual Mac-off competition on Friday to package meals for the New Hampshire Food Bank—Manchester Professional Firefighters Association won while both groups together prepared enough food to feed over 20,000 people.  WMUR
  • On Saturday, thirty-five kittens flew from Greenville, South Carolina to Manchester-Boston Regional Airport in their search for forever homes. They were transported by Pilots to the Rescue and taken to Darbster Kitty in Manchester for care.  WMUR

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Jacqueline Thomas interviewed Sean O'Brien from UNH Cooperative Extension at Pawtuckaway State Park to explain how drying and freezing fruits can preserve food—methods that help remove moisture to extend shelf stability without extra canning work.  WMUR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lawmakers in Concord are considering HB 396 to let custom slaughtering produce meat sold only in New Hampshire—since there are only four USDA-inspected facilities causing long wait times for small farms. The bill will be voted on in January and may lead to federal enforcement if challenged while prompting changes in the regulations.  WMUR
  • Nashua business owners raised concerns over increased homelessness at a recent Board of Aldermen meeting, with Mayor Jim Donchess warning that the issue could hurt local revenue. He said a police patrol running six days a week—ticketing public drinking, narcotics use, theft and other violations—will be tested for two months to help ease rising aggressive behavior.  WMUR

  • Sunny is a lively 3-year-old pup nearly 70 pounds who quickly became a favorite at the shelter for his playful and loving nature.
