- ➤ Harbor Care will host the 21st Annual New Hampshire Veteran Stand Down on September 19 in partnership with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs + U.S. Department of Labor and over 50 community groups. The event will offer support and services for veterans. New Hampshire Union Leader
- ➤ Harbor Care has named Katie Tovar Paciulan as its new Director of Veteran Services; she will oversee programs including transitional and permanent housing, SSVF, HVRP and the Staff Sergeant Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program. - ➤ Business owners, housing advocates and city officials met at the Nashua Public Library on September 9 to discuss the growing homelessness crisis downtown and view solutions like a police patrol pilot program set to launch later this month—along with plans for resource centers, public restrooms and increased outreach. Officials said the meeting marks the start of regular discussions to connect the unhoused with temporary and permanent housing options and to address safety and service needs in the area. - ➤ New Hampshire communities are holding remembrance events today to honor the nearly 3,000 victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks—Allenstown starts at 9:15 a.m., Derry at 8:15 a.m., Hampton at 6 p.m., and other towns have planned ceremonies. WMUR

- ➤ According to LendingTree, New Hampshire residents spent an average of $387 on lottery tickets, ranking the state 16th in the nation. Three New England neighbors recorded higher spending—Massachusetts led, Rhode Island was second, and Connecticut ranked sixth. WMUR
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Nashua Mayor Jim Donchess asked for state and federal help to buy the 40+ acre Daniel Webster College property, which is unused and owned by a Chinese entity—he estimated it could cost $20 million and be repurposed for housing. The move comes after another local property purchase by Nongfu Spring raised national security concerns near military bases and airports. WMUR
- ➤ State Representatives Heather Raymond, Susan Elberger, and Dale Swanson will hold office hours at the Nashua Public Library conference room from 7 to 9 p.m. on September 17 so local residents can meet them — interested community members are welcome to drop by. Nashua Ink Link
- ➤ State revenues from July and August fell below targets for fiscal year SFY 2026, with business tax receipts down $9.5 million and other taxes also missing their goals—raising concerns that policymakers may need to adjust spending if trends continue.
