CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Investigators with the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office held a news conference Monday to announce that the final victim of the Bear Brook murders was identified as Rea Rasmussen—marking a significant milestone in the cold case work. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A new bail law will take effect on Sept. 21 that requires certain felony and violent offenders to appear before a judge, as Gov. Kelly Ayotte said the 2018 law allowed too many suspects to avoid jail—judicial officials are now training court staff and repeat offenders on bail will face automatic detention. - ➤ Bill Stewart, 54, received a pig kidney transplant on June 14 and was discharged from Massachusetts General Hospital a week later; he no longer needs dialysis after more than two years of treatment. He is the second New Hampshire patient in the eGenesis study — the FDA has approved a trial for the EGEN2784 kidney to treat end-stage kidney disease. WMUR
