CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The New Hampshire Attorney General's Office said Thursday that the shots fired by six state troopers last fall during an armed standoff in Plymouth at (Federal House Inn) were legally justified after property owner Kevin Steinfeldt threatened an attorney and his assistant by putting a gun to the assistant's head, firing his weapon, and brandishing a meat cleaver before later opening a doorway with a rifle as he shot himself and was later confirmed to have died from his self-inflicted wound. - ➤ The Overwatch Foundation works with about one-third of New Hampshire schools to upgrade cybersecurity as classes resume — it installs firewalls, changes email systems, and offers free training to guard against cyberattacks. WMUR

- ➤ Nearly 200 dams in New Hampshire are being closely watched because a failure could cause serious harm. The Pittsfield Mill Dam—an old dam that may not hold up against a 1,000-year flood—is checked every two years along with 180 others while lawmakers raise fees to pay for repairs. WMUR

- ➤ A federal judge questioned New Hampshire’s anti-DEI law signed by Gov. Ayotte in June—saying that extending the ban to public schools and state agencies without an appeal process may force districts to lose funding.
