COMMUNITY NEWS

  • WMUR is teaming up with New Hampshire Food Bank, Dead River Company, and high school athletic departments to tackle hunger by collecting food and funds during select football games. The drive starts Friday, Aug. 29 at Gill Stadium in Manchester—teams will support local food pantries.  WMUR

CRIME NEWS

  • Some key systems for crime victim assistance, including restitution payments and VINELink, have been offline since mid-May and state Rep. Kathleen Paquette said victims may not see payments until September while the DOC works to restore the services.  WMUR
  • Nashua police arrested a couple in connection with the death of an infant, including 25-year-old Xorrel Cabrera — prosecutor Michael Brailey said the facts are horrendous.  New Hampshire Union Leader

  • A man has searched the names on a memorial plaque to learn the stories of the Camp Takodians lost in World War II—he honors their sacrifice by preserving their history for local remembrance. His work ensures these heroes' contributions are recognized and not forgotten.  WMUR

  • A UNH poll shows that Granite Staters remain divided on Gov. Kelly Ayotte’s first term performance with 47% approving and 46% disapproving+Both groups rank education as the top issue and her rating dropped from over 50% in June during the poll from Aug. 14-18.  WMUR
  • A University of New Hampshire survey showed Gov. Kelly Ayotte’s approval rating dipped as 47% approved and 46% disapproved while Granite Staters split on actions regarding education and funding cuts. The survey found most respondents opposed university and DHHS funding cuts—revealing clear partisan divides compared to past governors.  New Hampshire Bulletin
