CRIME NEWS

  • Robert Tulloch, who pleaded guilty in 2001 for killing two Dartmouth professors when he was 17, has been granted a resentencing hearing despite state prosecutors filing a motion arguing that his original life without parole sentence was proper based on the law of that time—his lawyers objected and no new hearing date has been set.  WMUR
  • Family members of missing and murdered people gathered on Friday in Concord to demand more action on over 100 unsolved cold cases—officials from the attorney general’s office noted the Cold Case Unit is re-reading long-closed cases as part of the new efforts.  WMUR

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Thursday, Gov. Kelly Ayotte joined community leaders—representatives from the Nashua Police Athletic League and AT&T—in distributing 100 refurbished laptops and new backpacks to students in grades 1 to 8 in Nashua and Manchester as part of an effort to bridge the digital divide for local families.  WMUR

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • This April Nashua took part in the City Nature Challenge and led all New Hampshire communities when 18 residents recorded 405 observations of 184 species using the iNaturalist app. The city will join the challenge again next April—hoping more residents explore local nature.  Nashua Ink Link

  • Justin Gerstenfield, a higher education administrator with strong experience in technology and research, announced his candidacy for Ward 5 Alderman in Nashua. He vows to improve access to city services and preserve the neighborhood’s character—promising a fresh approach in the November 4 election.  Nashua Ink Link

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • In July, single-family home prices in Hillsborough and Rockingham counties were well above the state median—Hillsborough reached $585,500 and Rockingham hit $669,000—adding pressure on buyers as New Hampshire’s overall median climbed to $545,000.
