- ➤ In Manchester, Pizza Express owner Elias Kyriakos Nicolopoulos said his staff now get extra breaks as ovens running at 700—900°F make the kitchen feel very hot, so workers can cool off in their own cars; other local restaurant owners are also adjusting schedules and adding extra air conditioners as the hot, humid week continues. - ➤ A Goffstown man pleaded not guilty Monday to charges after allegedly entering the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office wearing a Speedo and hat and assaulting two dispatchers Saturday; he fled in a car prompting a brief chase before his arrest Sunday — police say he posed a danger to the public. - ➤ Van Tassle, a 40-year volunteer firefighter killed in a Walmart attack in Somersworth over two years ago, is remembered by his family who demand justice—police reported that Brian Roberge, with a history of mental illness and a criminal record, carried out the fatal act as they push for legal changes to prevent such tragedies. - ➤ Saturday night, a motorcyclist was seriously injured in a head-on crash in Somersworth — local police charged the other driver with felony drunk driving. New Hampshire Union Leader

- ➤ A court hearing regarding a lawsuit by former Youth Development Center residents has been rescheduled to next Wednesday, August 20—due to a court conflict. The hearing will address a state law that now allows the governor to appoint the YDC fund administrator and pauses the claims process until a new appointment is made. WMUR
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Catholic Charities NH promoted Cindy Coughlin to Director of Mental Health Counseling Services to lead mental health counseling at its Nashua and Manchester offices. Coughlin (a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor since 2019) will oversee both in-person and teletherapy programs that help people deal with anxiety, depression, and other challenges. - ➤ Target recalled over 800 cases of Favorite Day Bakery Frosted Sugar Cookies after wood fragments were reportedly found in the product, with Give and Go Prepared Food Corp issuing the recall on July 22 for cookies made in Canada and distributed in more than 20 states (including New Hampshire). The FDA classified the recall as Class II (temporary or medically reversible health issues possible) and urges customers to throw the cookies away or contact Target Guest Relations for a refund. WMUR
