GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The New Hampshire Attorney General's Office is cracking down on illegal robocalls by sending letters to 37 voice providers—who must respond within 21 days—to stop routing calls from foreign scammers. WMUR
- ➤ Gov. Kelly Ayotte signed House Bill 776 last week to increase penalties for wrong-way drunken driving in New Hampshire—offenders now face a class A misdemeanor with higher fines, longer jail time and a lengthy license suspension, with charges rising to a felony if a serious accident occurs. The law also names the Virginia opossum as New Hampshire's state marsupial after a suggestion from fifth graders at Chesterfield School. New Hampshire Bulletin
- ➤ John Broderick, a former chief justice who once ran the youth development center settlement fund, criticized state leaders for turning his independent role into a political appointment—he warned that the change may stop victims of abuse from getting fair treatment. WMUR
- ➤ Nashua police removed parked RVs and campers along Celina Avenue after business owners complained about trespassing. Registered vehicles drove away while at least two unregistered RVs were towed—property owners had installed a new alarm system in June amid safety concerns—and police said the removal process went smoothly. - ➤ On August 4, 2025, Congressman Chris Pappas and Congresswoman Maggie Goodlander met at St. Joseph's Hospital in Nashua to discuss the Big, Beautiful Bill and its potential $500 billion Medicare cuts — concerns that could impact hospital operations, patient care, and plans for new geriatric services and housing for nursing students and medical residents.
