ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A collision between a dirt bike and a UTV on Thursday on the Rockingham Recreation Trail in Derry left a Massachusetts man seriously injured and he was taken to Elliot Hospital in Manchester — he wore safety gear — while the UTV operator was not hurt.  WMUR

CRIME NEWS

  • After over a year-long investigation, the attorney general ruled that Officers Joshua Martin and Jay Atchue acted lawfully when they responded to Ryan Prud’homme’s threat of self-harm outside a Lowe’s store on Daniel Webster Highway in Nashua on June 2—officials said the officers’ split-second decisions, which included a fatal gunshot and a non-lethal round, were a reasonable mistake in a rapidly unfolding crisis.  WMUR

ECONOMY NEWS

  • New tariffs of 35% on Canadian goods took effect Friday, and local manufacturers said they faced longer wait times and higher costs. Senator Jeanne Shaheen is working to pass legislation to exempt New Hampshire products—efforts that come as officials claim the tariffs will lower inflation and create more jobs.  WMUR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • New Hampshire became the first state to require doctors and medical staff to sterilize patients who request the procedure — the new law is set to guide future medical practices.  New Hampshire Union Leader
  • Gov. Ayotte signed SB 245 at American Medical Rescue in Nashua to ban surprise ambulance billing and set the charge at 350% of the Medicare rate for two years—state regulators will review the rate later to adjust for inflation and market changes. This law will protect patients from unexpected bills while ensuring fair payments for EMS providers.  New Hampshire Bulletin
  • Mayor laid out a new plan when city aldermen were asked to approve a two-phase funding package that extended the shelter at 39 Beech St. for an extra seven months (through March 31) and will open a 20-bed shelter for older, medically fragile residents.  New Hampshire Union Leader
