- ➤ A man who escaped from a jail in Unity—captured later in Norwalk—is now facing charges in Oklahoma for obtaining money under false pretenses, as court documents state that Jianming Zeng, 33, of Brooklyn was involved in a tech support scam to collect cash from victims and had earlier stolen thousands from an elderly man in Charlestown. - ➤ This weekend, July 18-20, Nashua will host events that include a Pup Crawl—hosted by local breweries, a Fairytale Festival at Greeley Park on July 19, and a live music matinee with a Nashua South alumni football game on July 20. - ➤ The University of New Hampshire is launching a school of nursing today to combine all in-person, online, undergraduate and graduate programs under one umbrella—800 students are enrolled and local health care leaders expect the new structure to offer more clinical opportunities. WMUR
- ➤ United Way of Greater Nashua is launching its annual Rod Hansen Memorial School Supply Drive to collect new backpacks, notebooks, glue sticks and headphones for the local school supply pantry at its Broad Street office. Residents can drop off donations at Staples in Nashua and Amherst on August 2, 3, 9 and 10 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM — or at the United Way office Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM to ensure teachers have supplies before school starts.
