ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ In 1964, Patrolman Edward Rocky Graziano died when his motorcycle was pinned by a car during a traffic stop near Rivier College in south Nashua—he was the first motorcycle officer to lose his life in the line of duty in New Hampshire. Nashua Ink Link

- ➤ A new study by Ringy shows that only 48.9% of New Hampshire businesses opened in the 12 months ending March 31 survived by March 31 — a rate that ranks the state 38th among states and Washington, D.C. and falls below the 51% national average. Nashua Ink Link

- ➤ On July 1, Kelly Santos, a Nashua mom, graduated from Manchester Community College’s Parent Leadership Training Institute and focused her project on expanding no-cost advocates for special education — a move aimed at helping parents better understand the IEP process. She has partnered with local groups such as the Children’s Dyslexia Center to set up monthly parent nights and share critical resources — a step that she believes will reduce isolation for families navigating special education. - ➤ The Nashua Board of Education policy committee drafted a new policy to ban personal cell phone use during school hours—with exceptions for students with medical, disability or language needs—to protect learning and mental health. - ➤ Twelve law enforcement agencies in New Hampshire completed ICE 287(g) training so they can detain people for immigration issues when state law is broken. Belknap County Sheriff Bill Wright said his deputies finished online courses and will no longer wait for federal officers to arrive—helping them stay informed on local enforcement actions. WMUR
- ➤ New Hampshire lawmakers have passed laws that will change bar rules by limiting brewpubs to selling beer to only one extra location, letting towns create social districts for outdoor drinking, and allowing patrons to bring drinks into restrooms. Officials say the rules—taking effect later this summer and in September—aim to protect the three-tier system that keeps distributors in charge and requires bars to serve food. Nashua Ink Link

- ➤ Dartmouth Health and Elliot Hospital teamed up at the start of the month to expand maternal and child services.
