  • Stronger Together Veterans Coalition is holding a motorcycle ride and rally on July 27 — an event planned to support local veterans.  New Hampshire Union Leader

CRIME NEWS

  • Londonderry police are asking the public for help after an armed robbery occurred at Patriot Gas on Nashua Road at about 5:20 p.m. Tuesday—an employee reported the suspect, described as a white man with a medium build and short beard wearing a yellow covering on his head, showed a knife and demanded cash before fleeing toward Londonderry Road.  WMUR
  • State and federal law enforcement shut down more than 40% of known illicit massage businesses in New Hampshire last night in a DOJ campaign to disrupt human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation (targeting venues in communities like Derry and Manchester).  Nashua Ink Link
  • At about 9:30 a.m., police in Francestown responded to a home on Old County Road North when a man reportedly assaulted officers and a police officer sustained serious head injuries and was taken to hospital—officials advise drivers to avoid the area—.  WMUR
  • Dennis Nordquist, 71, of Gilford was sentenced in Hillsborough County Superior Court—Northern District to serve concurrent prison terms of 1.5 to 3 years for theft by deception and securities fraud in a Nashua brewery scheme and received a suspended 3.5 to 7 year sentence for conspiracy while being ordered to pay restitution pending a further hearing.  Nashua Ink Link

CULTURE NEWS

  • After three months of rehearsal, the Actorsingers cast and crew are finishing their teen production of Anastasia, a musical version of the 1997 film that retells the legend of a lost princess, in Nashua. The show will open on Friday, July 11 at 7:30 p.m. + it promises to mix lively dance numbers with touching moments for a fresh take on the classic tale.  Nashua Ink Link

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Great white sharks are nearing New Hampshire beaches as researchers and local officials have deployed receivers off the Seacoast to track their movement—devices attached to bright orange moorings record shark activity at busy spots like Hampton and Cable beaches. UNH marine biologist Nathan Furey and his team plan to use the data to help keep beachgoers safe as shark season runs from July to November.  WMUR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Front Door Agency has partnered with the City of Nashua’s Housing Trust Fund to launch a Landlord Incentive Program that gives financial benefits—such as a $500 sign-on bonus, deposit and loss mitigation coverage, and renovation support—to landlords renting to tenants at risk of homelessness. The program also provides ongoing support with education and case management to enhance housing stability in the community.  Nashua Ink Link

  • Yesterday, the Nashua Silver Knights beat the Westfield Starfires 1 to 0 at Holman Stadium with one run scored when Grabau reached base—he then scored on a hit by Current. The win built momentum for the team—strong pitching kept Westfield off the board throughout the game.  Nashua Ink Link
