- ➤ At Branch Brook Campground, owner Pedro Pinto said his team trains each summer for flood emergencies after deadly flash floods in Texas showed how quickly rising water can be dangerous—Campton-Thornton Fire Rescue Chief Daniel Defosses warned that even a few inches of water can move a car. WMUR

- ➤ Chuck E. Cheese has opened new arcades for adults, teenagers and lifelong fans in Nashua and Salem—offering a modern twist on classic gaming—and invites guests to try the updated experience today. New Hampshire Union Leader
- ➤ Ryan Robinson, Senior Director at Mainstay Technologies, explained that many businesses face two issues with AI—one being a lack of clear strategy for its use, and the other weak cybersecurity that leaves them vulnerable to hackers. He said New Hampshire rules require human oversight to stop AI misuse. WMUR

- ➤ Police arrested 44-year-old Anthony Finelli from the Bronx after a chase began in Epping on Route 101 and ended in Auburn where he drove over tire deflation devices—Finelli faces a New York burglary warrant pending extradition. WMUR
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Spartans Drum and Bugle Corps celebrated 70 years—growing from a $500 start in 1955 to an award-winning group with over 5,000 alumni and 165 members who travel 8,000 miles each year for local and national competitions. - ➤ Sean O'Brien from UNH Cooperative Extension said beech leaf disease is spreading across beech trees in New England. He explained that a small nematode causes leaf striping and early drop, and he advised that infected leaves not be composted but disposed of safely (by landfill, burial, or burning). WMUR
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ New Hampshire Fish and Game said a person became sick after a wild raccoon kept as a pet bit them. Officials advised locals to vaccinate pets, avoid feeding wildlife, secure garbage lids and clean grills, and see a doctor if bitten. WMUR
- ➤ Newly released CDC data showed that New Hampshire had the lowest infant mortality rate in the country in 2023—its rate was just under 3 per 1,000 live births compared to a national rate of 5.61—with about 20,000 infant deaths reported in the U.S., a 2% decrease from 2022. WMUR
- ➤ Recent data shows New Hampshire has a high unintentional fall death rate for people aged 65 and older; in 2023, falls killed over 41,000 older Americans, including 303 residents from our state—only seven states reported a higher rate. WMUR
