  • A rock climber who fell 60 feet on Mount Washington was rescued by a New Hampshire Army National Guard helicopter on July 3 at 9:22 a.m. EDT.  WMUR

CRIME NEWS

  • On July 2, a Nashua man named Reynaldo Tirado, 31—recently released on bail—crashed his silver 2012 Acura ZDX into a white 2024 Honda Pilot near Exit 5 on I-93 southbound, fled on foot, and was later detained by troopers with both drivers sustaining minor injuries as he was arraigned today in Derry District Court.  Nashua Ink Link

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Travelers setting off for the Fourth of July holiday are seeing lower gas prices than last year. AAA expects 60 million drivers on the roads this weekend + GasBuddy reported that New Hampshire prices fell by 7 cents per gallon to an average of $3.02 on Thursday, saving Americans $500 million on gasoline.  WMUR

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Today, New Hampshire enjoys warm, sunny weather with morning sunshine and occasional showers in the mountains, while later this weekend, the lakes and seacoast will see rising temperatures and mild, comfortable conditions—ideal for fireworks and outdoor plans.  WMUR
  • Environmentalists led by Standing Trees, Inc. and the Environmental Advocacy Clinic filed a lawsuit in late June to stop the Sandwich Vegetation Management Project in the Sandwich Range of the White Mountain National Forest. They say the Forest Service did not meet federal review standards for logging 638 acres and rebuilding 16 miles of roads (the suit also alleges harm to endangered species and scenic views) and the case could affect future forest management.  New Hampshire Bulletin

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A bill (SB141) to let wrongfully convicted people ask for a new trial without a three-year limit did not become law after the House added changes that led Senate negotiators to kill it in committee. Advocates say the rule keeps innocent people behind bars and they plan to push for the bill when the Legislature meets next year.  New Hampshire Bulletin

  • New England restaurants have turned everyday treats into giant sensations on social media—Lovebirds Donuts in Kittery now makes a nine-inch doughnut that serves up to eight people, Mickey’s Pizza in Derry and Hudson offers a secret 10-inch mozzarella stick that drew over 200,000 TikTok views, and The Goat in Manchester created a 32-ounce cold brew called GOATcaine.  WMUR
