BUSINESS NEWS

  • Officials confirmed that a data breach discovered last November may have exposed Social Security numbers, financial details, and contact information of some Hannaford employees and their beneficiaries—an investigation by Ahold Delhaize USA Services is underway. The company said it is notifying those affected—while Hannaford operates 36 local stores—to help protect their information.  WMUR

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Southern New Hampshire University officials announced that 60 jobs will be cut across eight departments as they work to meet long-term strategic goals—school leaders said they will help the affected employees with the transition.  WMUR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Kelly Ayotte signed two state budget bills on Friday, giving New Hampshire a $15.9 billion two-year funding package until July and a compromise measure to restore agencies and add a school cell phone ban—after tough talks—while cuts to some programs remain.  New Hampshire Bulletin
  • New Hampshire drivers currently must get a yearly safety inspection, but if Gov. Kelly Ayotte signs the approved state budget soon, inspections will end on Jan. 31. The New Hampshire Automobile Dealers Association has called the change risky—warning of potential winter safety issues and unexpected costs.  WMUR
  • A federal judge granted a preliminary injunction to keep New Hampshire’s Job Corps center open, halting its planned closure on Monday that would have left dozens of students homeless. The center on Dunbarton Road, which supports 250 students and 115 staff and provides vocational training and college certifications, is vital to the local economy — officials warn its shutdown will have long-term impacts.  Nashua Ink Link
