CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The former general manager of the Foundry in Manchester pleaded guilty in April to stealing money by making false reimbursement claims and changing workers' hours, and he was sentenced to two to four years in prison — he must repay over $150,000 and will face a longer sentence if he reoffends. - ➤ On June 18, Nashua police arrested Joseph Hall from Hudson for theft at a Target store, while on June 22 they arrested Nashua resident Crystal Farley for drug possession and alleged simple assault following an incident at 48 Temple St. and a vehicle search at the Eagles Wing Function Center, and Kenneth Blankenship was arrested on a felony warrant for theft related to an earlier auto dealership burglary — all suspects are held on cash bail or preventive detention pending arraignment. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Legislators will vote on House Bill 71 that, if passed and signed by Gov. Kelly Ayotte, will ban public schools, colleges, and universities from housing migrants unless used for short-term shelter during emergencies — schools in violation will lose state funding. The bill was introduced by Rep. Juliet Harvey-Bolia as a precaution and has been amended to require public posting of property valuation changes — a measure accepted by House negotiators. New Hampshire Bulletin
- ➤ Gov. Kelly Ayotte will ask the Executive Council at 10 a.m. today to schedule a special session on June 27 so that if lawmakers do not pass a budget by Thursday, a 90-day continuing resolution can keep state services running — her move comes amid disputes over funding cuts and proposals that she has criticized. She has warned that the current budget measures, which affect health and education funding, may prompt her to veto the bills if they are not revised — a sign of ongoing disagreements in the Legislature.
