CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A judge ruled Monday that Brandon Legere—43 of Manchester accused of injuring two police officers and hitting two cruisers in Bedford on Sunday morning—will remain in jail with no bail. WMUR
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Kelly Ayotte joined a union rally Monday morning to support first responders as lawmakers work on fixing retirement benefits that changed in 2011—an issue that has led to challenges with recruitment and retention. The proposed plan will cost over $300 million spread over the next decade—and may be funded with added revenue from video slot gambling. WMUR
- ➤ New Hampshire signed on to a $7.4 billion settlement with Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family to address claims over the opioid crisis. The state will receive up to $30 million over 10 years—most of it in the first three years—to fund treatment, recovery and prevention efforts. WMUR
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Athletes from Nashua North, Nashua South and Bishop Guertin high schools showed strong displays in recent postseason tennis and track competitions—Nashua North’s Mary Pappas reached the girls tennis semifinals while track star Jhanelle Thomas earned third place in both the 100-meter dash and 300-meter hurdles—other competitors posted notable finishes in various races and field events. - ➤ Bishop Guertin High School boys lacrosse won the Division-I championship on Saturday with a 19-5 score against Pinkerton at Bill Ball Stadium, earning their fifth consecutive title and 14th overall banner.
