  • A New Hampshire family said their dog Harper was found 32 days after she went missing near a Nottingham home when a recovery worker used sausage to lure her out—she was limping, had ticks, and lost weight. She is now safely reunited with her family.  WMUR

CRIME NEWS

  • A Nashua man was arrested in Lowell today for cocaine trafficking—police said a surveillance operation uncovered nearly 180 grams of cocaine.  New Hampshire Union Leader
  • New Hampshire's Secretary of State testified Tuesday in the trial of political consultant Steven Kramer—accused of using an AI robocall to stop people from voting in the 2024 primary by using former President Biden's voice—and his defense said the calls did not affect an official election.  WMUR

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Gov. Kelly Ayotte announced Tuesday her nomination of Caitlin Davis as the new state education commissioner and will present her to the State Board of Education on Thursday—if confirmed, Davis will replace outgoing commissioner Frank Edelblut. Davis served eight years as director of education analytics and resources at the Department of Education.  WMUR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Kelly Ayotte signed two bills Tuesday that expand school choice and require educators to share information with parents—one bill ends means testing for Education Freedom Accounts and the other creates a parental bill of rights. Critics say the new law may not protect students in unsafe homes.  WMUR
  • The state Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that New Hampshire’s Statewide Education Property Tax, known as SWEPT, is constitutional because it is applied uniformly by the Department of Revenue Administration. The ruling also declared that using negative tax rates is unconstitutional—state lawmakers must address the issue.  New Hampshire Bulletin

  • Two Nashua high school teams remain in the title hunt this season. The Bishop Guertin softball team, after a 5-2 upset win over Windham, will face Pinkerton in the state semifinals at Chase Field today at 5 p.m.—and the Bishop Guertin boys lacrosse team, after a 19-2 win over Concord on Saturday, will take on Bedford in the semifinals at Exeter High School today.  Nashua Ink Link
