ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On June 6th, police responded to a fatal crash on Route 3 near Tyngsborough (near exit 88) that killed one person and seriously injured three others, with southbound lanes reopening at 3:40 p.m. while northbound lanes remained closed as crews from Nashua and other agencies continued to investigate the scene.  WMUR

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Former medical worker Nadia Wayda — who left the field after a friend's advice — now runs the popular Whoa Nellie Food Truck with her daughter Victoria. The truck serves generous topped French fries at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and holds private events, weather permitting.  WMUR

CRIME NEWS

  • New Hampshire State Police arrested Keoma Duarte of New Bedford for causing a fatal wrong-way crash that killed Endicott College police Sgt. Jeremy Cole on Thanksgiving—Duarte drove north on I-95 in Hampton, entered a liquor outlet parking lot, and then rejoined the highway the wrong way before crashing later on I-95 in Newbury, Massachusetts.  WMUR

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Many Nashua residents are overpaying for cellphone service and switching to a smaller provider can save up to $500 a year, Consumer Reports said (U.S. Mobile, Consumer Cellular and Ting earning high marks for value and support). David Morgan left Verizon after 12 years to join Ting, and experts advise checking your data use to pick a plan that fits your needs.  WMUR

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Sharon Wilson has been named Director of Clearway High School by the Nashua Adult Learning Center. A Nashua native with decades of experience in teaching and school administration — including her work at local schools and on the Mayor’s Welcoming City Task Force — she will guide the program to further support alternative education.  Nashua Ink Link
  • The Community College System of New Hampshire board unanimously confirmed Dr. James Keane as the new president of Nashua Community College, and he will start on July 14. Keane brings years of leadership experience from Curry College and Quinsigamond Community College plus he aims to strengthen community partnerships and innovate student programs.  Nashua Ink Link
  • Science Café NH will meet on June 17 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Soel Sistah’s Cafe at 30 Temple St to explore how digital technology may affect child development—experts from UNH, the Nashua School District, and local nonprofits will share their views.  Nashua Ink Link
