ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A driver was seriously injured when his car, reportedly pursued at speeds of 130 to 140 mph, crashed into a tree and caught fire on the southbound Everett Turnpike in Merrimack early Friday morning—firefighters took 40 minutes to free him before a medical helicopter airlifted him to Mass. General Brigham for treatment of multiple fractures without severe internal injuries.  WMUR

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Today, The Nash Casino announced that the Lucky Lantern Noodle House, a 47-seat restaurant offering late-night dining with steaming bowls of broth and authentic noodle dishes in an open kitchen, is now open from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m.—the menu features dishes like Combination Beef Pho and Truffle Noodle Soup alongside Korean Short Ribs.  Nashua Ink Link

CULTURE NEWS

  • Chef Keith Sarasin of Aatma Curry House in Nashua began his culinary path washing dishes at Danelly’s and found healing in cooking when his friend Steve Mahoney fell gravely ill with stage-four cancer. He now hosts a weekly event at Coffee & Kindness at 105 W Pearl St.—every Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and will soon release his cookbook The Soul of Spice to share his journey and passion.  Nashua Ink Link

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City Academy participants gathered at city hall on May 29 to learn how planning staff developed a draft land use code and practiced applying it to redevelopment ideas—an effort linked to the Imagine Nashua Master Plan—and to guide future zoning updates. City officials said the exercise helped bridge gaps between current regulations and community needs.  Nashua Ink Link
  • A new poll from the University of New Hampshire Survey Center shows that housing is the top issue for Granite Staters with 36% naming it their main concern—taxes and education follow with 10% and 8%. The survey, conducted May 22 to 26 with a sampling error of plus or minus 2.7%, also found that 43% report no change in their finances while 35% say they feel worse off and 22% say they feel better off.  WMUR
  • The Department of Labor announced it will pause operations at the Manchester Job Corps facility due to major financial challenges and a review that found significant program issues. About 240 students and 100 employees must secure new housing and jobs by next Friday with the pause set to take effect by June 30—raising concerns about the program’s future.  WMUR

  • WMUR.com is asking locals to vote on which restaurant makes the best burgers by considering options like turkey, veggie, black bean, or mushroom burgers. Voting ends at 9 a.m. Thursday (no national chains allowed) and winners will be announced the next day.  WMUR

  • Between May 22 and May 29, Nashua high school teams played baseball, softball, lacrosse, and tennis—some started postseason play, others pushed for playoffs, and a couple of Gate City teams strove for pride and improvement—showing how student athletes fared over the week.  Nashua Ink Link
