- ➤ Alyssa O’Mara was named Executive Director of Great American Downtown and comes from a strong background at the Greater Nashua Chamber. She said she accepted the role to help revitalize downtown Nashua—stabilizing operations and expanding inclusive programming—and plans to support key events like the Nashua Farmers Market. - ➤ On May 28 at 10:29 a.m., Nashua police responded to a robbery at TD Bank on Daniel Webster Highway when a heavy-set middle-aged male in a black full-zip hooded sweatshirt and black pants threatened employees with a weapon, fled in a white vehicle with cash, and the department is asking the public for help identifying him as no one was injured. - ➤ A former Nashua woman, Darlene Vertullo, waived formal arraignment as she faces felony theft and fraud charges for allegedly stealing $688,500 from NextGen Mortgage between March 2019 and November 2023. New Hampshire Union Leader
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ New Hampshire wildlife biologists said winter ticks are draining moose of blood and leaving them looking like zombies. The moose population fell from between 7,000 and 8,000 to roughly 3,000 and 4,000, and state officials are offering more hunting permits + working with the University of New Hampshire to study ways to control the ticks. - ➤ The EPA awarded funds to two local communities to clean up contaminated brownfields—Concord got $678,000 to address pollution at the former Concord Stables while Nashua’s Regional Planning Commission received $1.5 million for site assessments, cleanup planning and public input in downtown Nashua and Milford. These funds are part of a nationwide effort to help 207 communities plan and develop cleanup projects under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Nashua Ink Link
- ➤ New Hampshire State Parks is celebrating 90 years of recreation and conservation with events that highlight its 94 properties — including parks, campgrounds, historic sites and beaches — while encouraging residents to explore free or low-cost outdoor spaces.
