CRIME NEWS

  • Police arrested Brett Houle after residents reported hearing gunshots near Heon Court Monday night and charged him with reckless conduct — he was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday.  WMUR
  • A Manchester man pleaded guilty to murdering his 7-year-old son after he inflicted burn injuries in January and was sentenced to 45 years to life in prison—he apologized in court for his actions and was immediately taken into custody.  WMUR
  • New Hampshire State Police said that over Memorial Day weekend on Interstate 93, dozens of drivers were stopped for speeding (42 above 90 mph and 6 above 100 mph) and a Massachusetts man was arrested in a white Corvette for driving about 140 mph (reckless driving carries a $620 fine and a 60-day license loss).  WMUR

  • Grantham’s Steve Becker, known as Steve the Spoon Guy, plays spoons in diners, barbershops, and supermarkets to entertain locals. He has gathered nearly 100,000 TikTok followers and performs at events from private concerts to weddings — continuing a family spoon-playing tradition — that spreads joy across the community.  WMUR

HEALTH NEWS

  • Jim Piet, who lives with cerebral palsy, said it took him four months to hire a care aide because low Medicaid rates and a tight labor market make it hard for people with disabilities to find help. Gov. Ayotte and state officials are working on budget proposals to protect disability services (including reversing proposed Medicaid cuts) as the labor shortage continues.  New Hampshire Bulletin

  • Merrimack lacrosse player Jake Miller returned to the field today after his battle with acute lymphoblastic lymphoma—he spent 23 days at Boston Children's Hospital and suffered a stroke during treatment before being cleared to play as his team makes a push for the playoffs.  WMUR
