- ➤ Today, the Board of Aldermen will vote on the FY26 city budget, which totals $361,007,868 after committee amendments added $389,196 to the general fund to restore community health positions and adjust fire department salaries—Mayor Jim Donchess said rising costs, including a 9.6% increase in health care and an 18% jump in school bus expenses, pushed overall spending above the planned 3% rise while a potential 22.9% county tax hike remains a challenge. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A 10-year-old girl from Barnstead was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia last January and has received about 30 transfusions to fight the illness; she is now in remission and still on daily treatment.
