- ➤ Leda Lanes, a candlepin bowling alley on Amherst Street, closed last week after 65 years in service—its attached Keglers Den will serve its final brew tomorrow, May 24th. The Simoneau family began the alley in 1969 and they now seek investors as the property will be redeveloped. Nashua Ink Link
- ➤ Kendra Smith, owner of Soel Sistas southern-style cafe, started Feed The Kids during the COVID-19 school closures to serve nutritious meals to local children and the program has since provided hundreds of dinners weekly. On May 20, Feed The Kids became a 501c3 nonprofit and received a $1,242 donation from Nashua Rotary West—proceeds from last year’s Over-the-Edge fundraiser—to support future meal efforts. - ➤ On Thursday, the New Hampshire Senate passed a bill to support building advanced nuclear power that could help lower our future energy costs. The legislation lets utilities ask for multi-year proposals for new reactors through 2040+it also raises community solar limits for low to moderate income projects from 6 to 18 megawatts. WMUR
- ➤ New Hampshire tourism officials launched a new 'Wildly Responsible' campaign to attract summer visitors while keeping natural resources safe. Gov. Kelly Ayotte and state agency leaders met Thursday — they estimate 4.6 million visitors will spend nearly $2.6 billion this season. WMUR
- ➤ Gov. Kelly Ayotte signed into law two bills on Thursday that ban sanctuary cities and require local law enforcement to cooperate with federal immigration authorities—aiming to keep New Hampshire safe—and prevent local agencies from blocking federal detainers. - ➤ On Wednesday, the Senate Finance Committee voted five to three not to restore funding for New Hampshire’s State Council on the Arts after the House eliminated it from the budget—leaving its future uncertain.
