  • The New Hampshire Community Loan Fund awarded $100,000 in accelerator grants to 29 small business owners on May 19 in Manchester. CULTURE NEWS

  • Hampton Falls native Aubry Bracco was named the winner of Survivor 50 today, earning a $2 million prize and the title Sole Survivor (she is the first local victor) after a season of strategic moves.  Granite Post
  • Granite Stater Aubry Bracco was declared winner of Survivor season 50 during the finale, bringing a proud moment for Granite State fans. The nationally broadcast competition highlighted weeks of intense challenges while many Nashua viewers followed the excitement.  New Hampshire Union Leader

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Nashua High School South won the Granite State Challenge on Thursday night against Plymouth Regional High School. The win, their first in nearly 10 years, followed months of practice and secrecy (the team had kept it a surprise since January) with coaches Lex Duval and Kelli Thornhill-Telerski guiding the effort.  Nashua Ink Link
  • During Wednesday's forum, community members from New Searles Elementary questioned data transparency & potential conflicts as the district discussed options from keeping all schools open to closing some; the study will be reviewed by the Board of Aldermen on June 4 at 7 p.m.  Nashua Ink Link
  • Two bills to empower parents in public schools are headed to Gov. Ayotte’s desk after Tuesday’s Senate approval. One measure requires teachers to answer written parental queries within 10 business days and the other mandates school boards to set up a process for requesting material removal.  New Hampshire Bulletin
  • A 14-year-old inventor from Auburn Village School created an adaptive video game controller using a 3-D printed sleeve (designed with help from his uncle) and tested it in a VR game; he won second place in New England and will attend the national Invention Convention in Michigan next month.  WMUR

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The latest update from the U.S. Drought Monitor shows rainfall has improved water conditions in northern and central New Hampshire, but southeastern communities still face severe drought. About 75% of the state is in drought, with 54% of local wells below normal, hindering recovery.  WMUR

SPORTS NEWS

  • NASCAR driver Kyle Busch (41) died Thursday after being hospitalized with a severe illness; he won three Cup Series races at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (2006, 2015, and 2017) and left a lasting impact on local fans.  WMUR
