COMMUNITY NEWS

  • 10-year-old Austin Clithero of Dover led his Marshwood football team to collect items for chemo care kits at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital. The project started last October during Breast Cancer Awareness month and gathers donations of supplies (tote bags, water bottles, socks) to support patients and will expand with a baseball fundraiser.  Granite Post
  • New England Voices in Harmony, an international a cappella chorus from Nashua, will host 'Harmony for Pink,' a benefit concert for the New Hampshire Breast Cancer Coalition on Saturday in June. The event will support local breast cancer awareness efforts.  New Hampshire Union Leader
  • Seth Meyers will perform a live benefit show on Aug. 7 at 8 p.m. at SNHU Arena in Manchester to support CASA of NH and the Granite State Children’s Alliance + tickets go on sale May 22 at 10 a.m.  Nashua Ink Link

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Storm Watch 9 analyzed local summer weather trends and found that New Hampshire will experience warmer, wetter summers with over two inches more rain and temperatures about 1.5 degrees higher than long-term averages — a strong Super El Niño may bring tropical humidity and increased thunderstorms but reduce hurricane risk.  WMUR

HEALTH NEWS

  • Consumer Reports tested 90 baby formulas for contaminants including lead and inorganic arsenic and found that products often covered by WIC such as Similac Advance and Enfamil Infant had low levels. A proposed federal bill may soon require states to contract with two manufacturers to expand choices for families.  WMUR

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Ali Feller, a New Hampshire native, built her running empire by hosting the popular Ali on the Run Show while battling cancer. She started with short runs in New York & now announces major marathons including Boston Marathon, New York City Marathon & Chicago Marathon.  Granite Post

  • Fisher Cats launch Hot Dog Happy Hour before every home game at Delta Dental Stadium. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. for a one-hour pregame concert and concession specials featuring the Rowdy's Rampage Dog and other fan favorites.  WMUR
  • Two Granite Staters led the US National Men's Paralympic Sled Hockey Team to historic gold while a former UNH hockey player is now a pioneering surgeon advancing shoulder replacement surgery. Their achievements show local talent + innovation.  WMUR
