  • Emma Flynn (a Bedford native and Derryfield graduate) made her Broadway debut as Glinda in Wicked on May 18, 2026. She gave a backstage tour of her dressing room, showcasing a custom-built ball gown and bubble crown that highlighted her excitement for the role.  WMUR
  • Jennifer Simard, a native of Litchfield and three-time Tony Award nominee, celebrated her Broadway success when her portrait was unveiled at Sardi's on May 18 + she stars in the musical Death Becomes Her and recalled her early passion sparked at Manchester’s Palace Theatre.  WMUR
  • Ian Dolley, a 19-year-old (from Manchester), completed his senior year online with a memorable cap-and-gown ceremony and now captivates Broadway audiences as Henry Creel in a secret run of Stranger Things: The First Shadow.  WMUR

EDUCATION NEWS

  • WMUR is marking graduation season by featuring Class of 2026 Senior Shoutouts from local high schools. Readers can submit photos and messages to honor New Hampshire seniors as the season unfolds.  WMUR
  • On May 18, Nashua Community College held its 55th commencement as 298 graduates received certificates and associate degrees. The ceremony was the first led by President James M.   • Rivier University held its 91st Commencement on May 17 at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, awarding 758 degrees to graduates from associate, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs.  New Hampshire Union Leader

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A Dartmouth College study found that rain in New Hampshire is falling in heavy clusters that cause swift runoff and leave the soil drier over time — local experts say updated water management plans may soon be needed to secure water supplies.  New Hampshire Bulletin

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A bill that cleared the legislature last week directs the energy department to set up rules for crediting homeowners for extra power stored from solar panels in home batteries, and it now goes to Gov. Ayotte for review.  New Hampshire Bulletin
  • New Hampshire is offering property tax relief for eligible homeowners with low and moderate incomes; residents must apply online or by mail by June 30, 2026 to access the aid, which averaged about $163 per household last year.  Nashua Ink Link

HEALTH NEWS

  • Southern New Hampshire Health reminds Nashua residents that stroke signs may be subtle, including confusion, dizziness, or a sudden severe headache. The health system urges anyone experiencing these symptoms to call 911 immediately for fast care.  Nashua Ink Link

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • According to the U.S. Census Bureau’s Vintage 2025 estimates, Manchester's population grew to 116,818 and Nashua's to 92,435 since April 2020 (up 1% and 1.2% respectively), but slow housing growth may limit future economic gains.  Nashua Ink Link
