GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Fabian Schmidt, a green card holder from Nashua, was detained by ICE at Logan Airport and spent over two months in custody at facilities in Boston and Rhode Island before his case was dropped and he was released 11 days ago. • The Senate delayed ending mandatory state vehicle inspections by pausing a repeal bill passed in March — a delay that pushes any changes to early 2026 and sets the stage for further debate during June budget talks. Lawmakers remain divided, with critics citing safety concerns and high costs while supporters argue that inspections are unnecessary.  Nashua Ink Link
  • The Senate slowed efforts to end mandatory state vehicle inspections by keeping the current law in place and delaying the repeal until early next year & lawmakers plan to revisit the issue during June budget talks. The measure follows a House decision in March and reflects concerns from constituents over repair costs and vehicle safety.  New Hampshire Bulletin

HEALTH NEWS

  • A certified nurse midwife at The Birth Place at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center explains early labor signs such as mild contractions and mucus-like discharge and says pregnant people should rest at home until symptoms become stronger.
