  • The YMCA of Greater Nashua announced Tuesday that Matt Haight was named its new Association Sports Director—he brings extensive youth sports experience from prior roles at the Y and Camp Tevya and will now oversee sports leagues, camps, and classes in Nashua.  Nashua Ink Link

  • Two New Hampshire women are impressing local customers with creative food and drink. Cheryl Holbert of Nomad Bakery in Derry makes a tree of life breadscape using local organic grains—while barista Meghann Louie-Heintel creates detailed latte art at cafés in Nashua and Manchester.  WMUR

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • An agreement has been reached to clean up the former Mohawk Tannery site in Nashua—EPA said the cleanup costs will be shared with a developer not liable for the contamination. The $31 million cleanup is expected to take up to two years before the developer begins plans to build over 500 housing units.  WMUR

HEALTH NEWS

  • Health experts in Manchester warn that warming weather brings active tick populations and advise pet owners to use vet-approved prevention products and check pets regularly—CDC guidelines also help residents remove ticks safely.  WMUR
  • A New Hampshire family says that when their 19-year-old daughter was hurt in a rideshare incident and later hit by traffic, the law did not let them make quick health decisions for her, and they now urge parents to set up health care proxies (legal forms that let someone act for an adult) to avoid similar problems (a call sparked by their tragic loss).  WMUR

SPORTS NEWS

  • The New Hampshire Athletics Association approved proposals to form a cooperative girls’ ice hockey team from Nashua High School North, Nashua South and Souhegan High School for the upcoming 25-26 winter school season. The board’s move dissolved boys’ teams to free up resources — costs will be shared based on student rosters and games will be held at Conway Arena.  Nashua Ink Link
